I found it!

You may be wondering what happened to the 5k Sonja & I were going to run... mostly because it happened last weekend, and I'm sorry to say that she & I were just not ready to do it. And because we missed the sign-up date, which may or may not have been intentional (I'm taking that to the grave!). Our 5k hopes have not been dashed though - there is one on Oct 26th that we plan on signing up for. Really. This one you can run in your Halloween costume, but most of the costumes, if you go to the store, are just slutty cops or slutty nurses or slutty Indian princesses -- maybe if we get enough ladies we can go as the slutty Village People. (To me that joke is NOT getting old. I'm here all week folks!)

Anyway, in my quest to eat a more healthy diet, I declined a lunch invite to MoJoe's, a great burger place, and did some research on the amount of fat that I'm allowed to eat every day. It was bothering me that I knew I had to cut down on saturated & trans fat, but not necessarily how much was "OK". I managed to find 2 websites that seemed pretty legit (URLs below) and after a lot of math I found out that fat is only supposed to be 30% of daily calorie intake, more math to convert calories to grams, and then saturated fats are only supposed to be 10% of that. I hope that made sense (seriously, check out the links, it makes more sense). I found out to maintain my weight I need:
  • Calories per day (ave between the two sites): 1840
  • Fat Calories per day (30% of total calories): 552
  • Fat Grams per day (9 calories per fat gram): 61
  • Saturated fat grams per day (10% of daily fat grams): 6
The whole thing seems a little daunting, but at least when I look at food labels now I have SOME idea of what I should be looking for.

Exercise for today: walking incline workout for 25.5 mins, 200-ish calories. Not bad for getting up at 5 for the first time in weeks!
