I have no idea why I woke up singing "Doe a deer a female deer..." this morning but it got me through the first couple minutes of my workout before I was able to replace it with Sublime, which is far more fun to sing.
I managed a 30 minute walking/running interval workout today which consisted of:
5 min walking warm-up
60-90 seconds running
60-90 seconds walking
5 min walking cool-down
This is getting to be one of my favorite workouts just because I feel like I can accomplish a lot more running this way than I can if I just went out for a jog then had to quit because I suck. Today it was easier for me to catch my breath between running intervals and I could sing a little while I was running (and I do mean "a little") but it's a massive improvement from when I started out last month. At the end I still have the tomato red face and that always worries Parrish but other than just being tired and sweaty I don't feel like I'm going to have a heart attack.
Today I'm determined to download music that Sonja suggested last month - it's music designed to do running intervals that will help you know when to start running/walking depending on the tempo of the music. I'll have to find the link and post later.

I like those podrunner intervals for trail running as opposed to treadmill running. On the treadmill, the stopwatch is always right in your face so you don't really need the music to tell you when to switch, but it's hard to run on a trail while checking your watch every, oh, 10 seconds to see if it's time to stop yet (dear GOD PLEASE let it be time to STOP NOW). ;)
