I haven't written in a couple of days... mainly because I psyched myself out about exercising and hadn't done anything. On my way home Friday while stuck in traffic and seeking perpetual motion I had nothing better to do than start nitpicking myself until I was mentally bloody. My butt is too big, I've got rolls, my neck is too fat (don't ask), blah, blah, blah... instead of getting out and exercising when I got home I bought ice cream instead sat on my booty until this morning. That's not to say I had a horribly depressing weekend, because it went pretty well, but it was a wake-up call on my part. Next time I'll be able to recognize that nasty little voice and ignore it - or use it as a catalyst to getting out for a run =)
I am pretty disappointed that I'm not going to attain my first goal of working out 20 days in a row, HOWEVER I think it's a big achievement that I've gotten back on the horse again. If I can workout every morning during the weekday it'll still be a major improvement over doing nothing.
This morning the alarm went off and I almost slept through it again. My sister sent me an interval training workout from SHAPE magazine that is supposed to be for walking but gives the benefits of running. For the first 15 mins the speed stays relatively steady but the incline increases every 2 mins. For the last 15 mins the incline stays at 0 (or 2.0 in the case of my treadmill) but the speed increases for 2 mins until the warm down. I I LOVED it. I don't know who is still walking by the last interval where the speed is up to 4.5, 'coz I was running and have some pretty ground eating strides. They must be ginormous.
All in all it felt pretty good - I felt pretty strong until that last interval and I only ran for 1.5 mins and hung on for dear life the last 30 seconds. I've also incorporated yoga into my cool downs... well honestly just Corpse pose because I'm laying on the ground anyway. =)
