I know I said I wasn't going to exercise but I got a smidge bored during the presidential speech (sorry Obama, I still love you!) so I hopped on the treadmill and did some more interval running. After a 5 min walking warm-up I did 90 sec running intervals and 60-90 second walking intervals, and then a 5 min walking cool-down for a total of 30 minutes. The running went pretty well - I found that with my headphones on I was able to focus on something other than any pain in my legs or my brain telling me to slow down.
So why pick on Demi Moore you ask? She was the first "hot" 40 yr old in Hollywood... at least that I can remember the media making a big deal out of a hot women in her 40s. While I realize that 30 (soon to be 31) is far from being 40, I've decided awhile ago that I don't want to be out of shape at that age. I've only got 9.5 years to go! ;)
I'm thinking of signing up for my first 5k - Susan G Koman is having their race for the cure in June here and I think I want to join. I'm not sure if I want to get anyone else involved or not (ala Skidmarks, a biking team at work) but I think that it would give me a goal to work towards. I've also have to get off the treadmill and get out of the house. My goal for tomorrow is find running trails around town or my area so I can get outside and do some damage.
Oh I'm sure you noticed I changed my profile picture. I thought a pic of my red face after running would be more appropriate than my dog but I'm not sure the red came through... man my head looks huge on here! lol

I've attempted a 5k before but didn't have enough motivation and ended up not showing up on race day. Boo. But I'd train with you if you wanted to do it, a la skidmarks.
ReplyDeleteSonja - that would be awesome. I really don't expect to run the entire 5k - we should definitely sign up!
